The Pen is Mightier Than The Sword (46664)
This installation piece at the V&A Waterfront is a life size representation of Nelson Mandela’s cell on Robben Island and it is made from the original fencing from the prison on Robben Island.
Sisyphus (dagga boy)
This piece is a commentary on the similarity between the punishment of Sisyphus and the thousands of labourers who are doomed to back breaking labour
The Great Escape I (Vault)
This replica of the gym vault is made from old discarded school desks. The intention is to suggest that through education anyone can escape the difficulties of their surroundings, no matter how desperate they may seem.
Dreamcatcher
This Dreamcatcher represents the ‘nightmares’ that are prevented by responsible sex. The original black condoms used to create this installation were the result of the public relations campaign to promote the South African/German arms deal
Twenty Years Ago (2010)
At a time when the whole world’s attention is focussed on South Africa as the first African nation to host the Fifa World Cup, it is easy to forget that none of this could have been possible without one incredible man. The legacy that Nelson Mandela has endured and created is inspiring, infectious and a model to all the worlds citizens.
